Get to know the faces behind our passion

GENERAL MANAGER
Kasia is our amazing GM and has been with us for over 10 years, mentoring hundreds of young staff along the way. She loves a Buddha bowl salad with seabream and when she relaxes away from work, seasonal mushroom hunting is her thing.

Kasia “loves looking after our great team just as much as looking after our lovely customers”.

HEAD CHEF
Richard has been Head Chef at The Star for 11 years and his favourite style of food is Asian. Does he like best about the bump is the team he has now built in the kitchen.
When not working he loves baking reading and supporting Tottenham Hotspur.

SOUS CHEF
Michal has started work at The Star in 2015 his favourite food are his mum’s stuffed cabbage leaves and he loves a pint of lager. His favourite part about the pub is it is a family-run business and makes him feel like he's part of it and part of the family.
When not at work his passion is football.

MANAGER
Tom has worked at The Star for the past 6 months and settled in very quickly. His favourite item on the menu is the Halloumi burger with extra bacon and he enjoys “the friendly faces of both the staff and our great customers”.

When not at work he is a bit of a car fanatic and enjoys car shows and meets.

MANAGER
This young man has been here for over 8 years and is a well-respected member of the Management team. He loves a medium rare steak sandwich along with a pint of Peroni (on his days off!) and supports Southend United, having grown up in Essex.

Jim loves the Star because “no two days are ever the same”.

MANAGER
For just over 3 years Tony has been with us and his years of previous experience have certainly helped our team to grow, which is his favourite part of his role as duty manager.

He loves a slow-cooked pork belly and when he’s not working, Warhammer gaming is his hobby.

MANAGER
Maddie has been a valued member of the management gang for the past 2 years and has brought a wealth of experience as well as a burst of fun and energy to the pub.

She loves a ‘gone trufflin’ pizza and photography is her hobby when relaxing. Maddie “really enjoys spending time with our friendly regulars”.

The amazing Beth has been at The Star for over 3 years and has worked her way up to the role of Supervisor. She is a bit of a film buff when not at work and for a meal out, particularly enjoys our specials, which are always changing.

Beth most enjoys “the excitement and adrenalin of the really busy Summer days”.

MANAGER
It is only 7 months since Ollie joined us, but he has settled in so quickly that it feels like a lot longer, and he was recently promoted to a supervisor role.

He really enjoys our Classic Burger, plays the guitar to relax and his favourite part of the job is “making sure customers are happy and keeping our friendly atmosphere in the pub”.
